Should have brought that conversation here

I responded back on User talk:WikiSysop, and now I'm looking up how to add Wikinews to your tables, giving you an interwiki link to the news site. - Amgine

Okay, first off, you should know about MediaWiki Handbook (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents), which is a good place to look for information if you get stuck. It is incomplete, but it is much better than no documentation. - Amgine 23:49, 5 Jan 2005 (CET)

Okay, the public domain release is a good idea for Tsunami Help. Not sure what's up with the wikinews set up... very definitely misleading, imo.
Yes, I think the same. I'll go and change the disclaimer in the templates. Also, I changed [MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning] to reflect that. - User:CBasturea 02:31 GMT, 6 Jan 2005
I see I've been made an admin! Thanks... - Amgine 03:41, 6 Jan 2005 (CET)

Adminship

I built a page at Tsunamihelp:Administrator's board to help admins communicate as issues come up.

Footer information

I just got your message, sorry...

I am looking to find out how to change the footer message. - Amgine 01:19, 11 Jan 2005 (CET)

The message is located at MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning. System messages can be found at Special:Allmessages. Hope this helps! - Amgine 01:26, 11 Jan 2005 (CET)
Thanks so much! I found the exact page I wanted - it was MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning2. - CBasturea 02:25, 11 Jan 2005 (CET)

Opening graphics/links in new window

No, that is not possible in the current set up of mediawiki. Can you tell me what you want to do? Or show me?

If your graphics are being hosted on another site, is that site another Wiki? If so, you could set up an interwiki link to have each graphic a link, the same as a locally hosted image. - Amgine 06:23, 11 Jan 2005 (CET)

Oh, bummer :( Here's the page I wanted to have all links opening in a new window (a target="_blank" sort of thing): Maps/Sri Lanka Relief Maps. No, the hosting site is not a wiki. Well, I guess we'll have to live with that :) Thank you! -- CBasturea 06:46, 11 Jan 2005 (CET)

Vandalism

Do you have anyone checking for vandalism? I was looking at your edit when I found this one dif (http://www.tsunamihelp.info/wiki/index.php?title=Health_%26_Safety&curid=924&diff=634&oldid=633&rcid=782), which I fixed. I suspect you may have much more going on.

This is one of the reasons we strongly encourage editors/contributors to log in; it makes finding vandalism a little bit easier since most vandalism is done by anonymous IP numbers. - Amgine 06:32, 11 Jan 2005 (CET)

CB, Per your request, I added the links to the IPs in question on the Ground Zero Discussion Page.

Why not say so?

I honestly had no idea of any advantage to log in identity. In the old UNIX days, anyone could log in as guest and then those sessions received extra scrutiny. I'm a little apprehensive of having my identity whisked about India and who-know-where-else, but I'm trusting that no one is going to fudge a log-in from me and smirch my name. I actually like the IP better as then I know no one will abuse my log-in. (I don't trust the password security enough.) --MichelleInSanDiego (or so she says...) (69.105.13etc right now)

just noticed this and want to let you know, so I logged in on your user page, but it really belongs where? probably vandalism (diff) (hist) . . ! Confirmed Deaths; 09:33 . . 198.20.32.254 (Talk) (→Bangaladeesh) (diff) (hist) . . ! Confirmed Deaths; 09:13 . . 198.20.32.254 (Talk) (→Bangaladesh) (diff) (hist) . . ! Confirmed Deaths; 09:13 . . 198.20.32.254 (Talk) (→Bangaladesh)

Thank you, Michelle. If it happens again I'll ban the vandal's IP. -- CBasturea 08:33, 11 Feb 2005 (CET)
